About the event

Anti-fraud advice session for the Irish Elderly Advice Network By Mark Mullally, NatWest Anti-fraud Community Team

This is a Live-Video Training at the Irish Elders Cultural Centre "The "Keeping You Safe from Fraud and Scams" presentation covers the basic mechanics of a scam including how people are targeted, how their data is sold and shared between different criminal gangs, how they then make their approaches and what people should do if they have been targeted. In addition to covering phishing and smishing in general terms we go into some detail about the three main scams currently on the rise which are coronavirus, investment and romance scams. The talk normally takes about 45 minutes and we then open it for a Q&A session to allow people to share experiences and ask any questions arising from the talk."
